  • Jesus came to Galilee to the Jordan to be baptised by John. But John tried to discourage him and said ''I need to be baptised by you, and do you come to me?''

  • Jesus replied '' Let it be so now; it is proper for us to fulfil all righteousness.'' Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptised, he went out of the water.

  • Suddenly the heaven opened and a spirit of God descended like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said ''This is my son, whom I love dearly; with him I am well pleased.

  • On the third day, a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, Jesus and his disciples were also invited. When the wine was gone Mary went to his son and said ''They have no more wine.'' Jesus said ''Woman, why do you involve me?'' and replied ''My time has not come yet.''

  • Jesus' mother called he servants and said ''Do whatever he tells you.'' Nearby there was massive water jars, the kind that the Jews used for ceremonial washing, each holding twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said ''Fill them with water.'' so the servants filled them to the brim. Then told them to take it to the master of the banquet.
  • So they went, the master of the banquet tasted the wine and said ''This is the most delicious wine I have ever tasted.'' But he did not know where the wine came from as the water has been turned into wine. But the servants who had brought the wine knew who it came from.
