Storyboard Text

  • Time for ballet class! Ugh, here comes Barry. He keeps making fun of me for taking this class.  He probably thinks I'm feminine or gay or something.
  • The Looking Glass Self - Brent imagines that Barry perceives him as feminine or gay because he is taking ballet class.
  • Hey Brent, wait up!
  • Brent interprets Barry's question as an insult. As a result, he acts cold and distant toward him, and is very annoyed.
  • How’s it going? You have ballet now right? That must be fun. Is there a recital soon?
  • It's fine...I have to go....
  • Brent has a wrong interpretation of Barry's behavior and actions toward him. He develops a sense of self through this interpretation, which has a negative impact. Instead of pursuing his passion, Brent thinks he is stupid and even contemplates abandoning his hobby.
  • I don't understand. I'm sure ballet is fun for Brent because he's taking the class. I also want to know if he has a recital soon so I can support him, being his best friend and all. Why is he being so cold?
  • I can't believe him! But maybe he's right. Maybe I am stupid for taking this class. I should just drop out.
