Storyboard Text

  • How Echolocation Evolved in Dolphins and Toothed Whales
  • Some dolphins have echolocation, while others do not.
  • At times, the ocean's waters can become murky and make it hard to see.
  • I can't see a thing.
  • Ouch!
  • Fish!
  • I know where they are!
  • The dolphins who have echolocation survive...
  • The surviving dolphins will mate and produce offspring with echolocation.
  • I have food! I will survive!
  • And the dolphins who don't have echolocation will die.
  • The children of the dolphins with echolocation will survive, grow up, and reproduce. Their children will live and produce offspring with echolocation, and so on and so on.
  • After a long period of time, all dolphins will have echolocation.
  • When new species and subspecies evolved from the first dolphins, they kept the trait of echolocation. Now dolphins and whales, their modern descendants, have echolocation.
  • The End
