  • Instead of a Latin Bible where not many people can read it what if I rewrite the Bible in German?!
  • Is this true?
  • Martin Luther was a theology professor at the newly established university of Wittenberg and had been reading the scriptures and writings of the early christians. Luther had found no evidence in the Bible for believing that the Pope had power to release souls from purgatory. He was very confused and mad at the same time.
  • lutheranism church
  • After Martin Luther studied the Bible he decided to write a list full of 95 points known as the '95 Theses' where he thought the church had gone wrong. After he finished the list he went down to the Wittenberg Castle Church on October 31st, 1517 and nailed it to the church door. It was read by many people however, Martin Luther was excommunicated for controdicting the catholic church.
  • The Bible was usually written in Latin, and taught by priests, but the priest didnt exactly say how the Bible was written. So Luther thought that if he wrote the Bible in German than many people would really know what the Bible actually said. So Luther did it. On 1522 Luther published the German Bible and many people read it and started to support luther and protest against the catholic church.
  • German Bibel
  • When Luther published the german Bible in 1522 he gained many protestants and followers that went against the catholic church and supported Martin Luther. Lutheranism was then created at this time as a major branch of Protestant Christianity which identifies with the theology of Martin Luther who is now a German friar.
