Rising Action For seven nights, the narrator has been watching the old man sleep. The narrator is trying to kill the old man. He is determined to do so.

Rising action On the eighth night, the Narrator makes a noise and wakes up the old man in a fright. Now the old man will not sleep.
Climax The Narrarator waits until the heart gets loud and throws himself in the room with a scream he suffocates the man with a matress and does not leave a drop of blood.
"Dissemble, no more! I admit to the deed!- Tear up the planks!-Here Here ! it is the beating of his hideous heart
Falling Action After the Narrator buries the body, the police come to investigate after a neighbor calls after hearing the yell. He lets them in and after searching lets them sit down. The sound of a beating heart starts.
Rising Action After a little bit, the noise gets louder and the narrator gets frustrated. He starts pacing the floor and the officers keep talking. The Narrator starts yelling am pulling up the floorboards.
Resolution The Narrator gets so frustrated he ends up confessing to the crime and tears up the floorboard. The police had known he was the murderer and had come to arrest him.
