  • Katniss is selfless because she puts others before herself. When Prim's name was drawn at the reaping, Katniss volunteered as a tribute for her. She took Prim's place in the Hunger Games to protect her. 
  • Importance to Primrose
  • Katniss is brave because she is willing to take risks. She volunteered for her sister so she wouldn't have to participate in the hunger games. She took the risk that she might die for her sister to be safe. 
  • Receives Advice Haymitch
  • Katniss was confident when she had show her skills to the game makers. The first shot she took with her bow she missed so the people stopped watching. She aimed up at them and shot an  arrow through an apple in the pigs mouth. she walked out confidently and said, "thank you for your consideration."
  • Leaves her Comfort Zone 
  • Katniss is important to Prim because she is very protective over her. Katniss has taken a mom role in Prim's life because her mother had gotten depressed after the death of her husband. 
  • Katniss gets advice from her mentor Haymitch, a former winner of the Hunger Games from district 12. He tells her and Peeta to get people to like them because they will get sponsors and stay alive longer. 
  • Katniss leaves her comfort zone when she enters the Capitol. Everything is different there compared to district 12. The clothes, the food, the technology and even the accent they have.
