John "Fitzergald" Kennedy was born on May 29th, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. He was the second child of Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Kennedy. Kennedy lived in Brookline until he was about 10 years old. He then moved to New York. Kennedy had 7 siblings, Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., Robert F., Ted, Rose Mary, Kathleen, Patricia, and Eunice.
John F. Kennedy was elected for president in 1961, making him the 36th President of the United States. He accomplished many things during his lifetime. For instance, Kennedy was the youngest elected President of the US. He took the US economy out of recession through his reforms. In 1961, Kennedy established the Peace Corps. His most significant accomplishment was that he averted a nuclear war through his negotiations with Khrushchev. Finally, he also worked on civil rights for African Americans.
JFK was assassinated in Dallas, Texas while he was in a car with his wife, Jackie Kennedy. Lee Harvey Oswald was responsible for his assassination. Oswald fired three bullets, in a Book Depository, on the sixth floor. The President was shot once on the neck and later the head. He was later arrested at 2:15 pm.
