Storyboard Text

  • Hi! Today we're talking about health inequalities!
  • Health Inequalities are differences in distribution of health between people of a society.
  • Two examples of how health inequalities are caused is: 1) socioeconomic class plays a significant role in whether a person receives adequate health care. 2)The environment you group in effects the type of health you receive.
  • In the readings, it was discussed how the United States compares to other countries of similar and lesser GDP
  • It was stated that the United States has one of the highest GDP, ranks 26th in life expectancy. Compared to other countries with a GDP of less than $20,000, those countries have a higher life expectancy than the U.S.
  • What was surprising to me from the readings was it was stated that although a country solves its basic material conditions, that money doesn't buy better health.
