Hi! Today we're talking about health inequalities!
Health Inequalities are differences in distribution of health between people of a society.
Two examples of how health inequalities are caused is: 1) socioeconomic class plays a significant role in whether a person receives adequate health care. 2)The environment you group in effects the type of health you receive.
In the readings, it was discussed how the United States compares to other countries of similar and lesser GDP
It was stated that the United States has one of the highest GDP, ranks 26th in life expectancy. Compared to other countries with a GDP of less than $20,000, those countries have a higher life expectancy than the U.S.
What was surprising to me from the readings was it was stated that although a country solves its basic material conditions, that money doesn't buy better health.
