The disparities we are discussing are race and class.
The disparities regarding race can originate from biology and can determine whether a person is more at risk for a disease because of their biological roots. This is important because it can inform people of their possible risks.
The disparities regarding class could possibily explain the association between race and health outcomes. Class plays a crucial role in the quality care a person may be able to receive.
Race and class both matter because they can determine whether resources are available to those people. In the reading, the author made a good point of more research should look at the socioeconomic class of people to determine policies that can decrease these health disparities
One shocking thing I learned from the reading was that the national trend data for black- white disparities in the United States has gone up for people of color in categories such as homicide, heart disease, and cancer
