Storyboard Text

  • FRANCE MOTIVE:
  • All I ever do is work and pay taxes! I am sick of being treated unfairly.
  • FRANCE METHOD:
  • We will charge toward the Bastille then sell church lands and place it under state control!
  • FRANCE CHANGE:
  • YAY! they're gone.
  • I do not deserve this!
  • The peasents/3rd estate had to pay high taxes because of military campaigns and overspending. They also were experiencing starvation and inequality. This caused them to revolt because they did not like the way they were being treated by the King and queen.
  • HAITI MOTIVE:
  • We want to be free!
  • The people of the 3rd estate started calling themselves the National Assembly. They planned to take charge at the Tennis Court Oath and they stormed the Bastille to get their rights.
  • HAITI METHOD:
  • This dirty, unhealthy, and diseased ship is what the slaves would travel on. Slaves are not products!
  • The National assembly abolishes the monarchy and declares France a republic. The King and Queen are executed, safety was established, and Robespierre leads the Reign of Terror. The National Assembly gains some equality after a long period of time.
  • HAITI CHANGE:
  • FINALLY!
  • Yes! We are finally free. Goodbye France.
  • The motive was to spread equality and end slavery. Slaves were not being treated fairly and were being treated as if they weren't human because they were traded. The slaves began to up rise against the French.
  • The abolitionists showed the pro-slavery people evidence of how slaves were being treated. The abolitionists showed them the Madagascar, shackles, and described to them what their day consisted of- unequal rights.
  • The Haitian Revolution not just ended slavery but ended French control over the colony. This one one of the most successful revolutions.
