  • “And if I have to die for this pure crime,/ I am content, for I shall rest beside him;/ His love will answer mine” - Antigone Prologue. 55-59
  • Prologue
  •  Antigone realizes the injustice of Polynices burial and decides to take matters into her own hands.
  • Scene One
  • Sentry explains to Creon that Polynices was buried
  • "And the man who dared do this?" - Creon 1. 79
  • Creon discovers that Antigone was the one who buried Polynices and sentences her to death. Antigone doesn't deny her actions. 
  • Scene Two
  • "And you, Antigone, You with your head hanging - do you confess this thing?" - Creon 2. 50-51
  • Scene Three
  • "She covered her brother's body. Is this indecent? She kept him from dogs and vultures. Is this a crime? Death?" -Haemon 3. 65-67
  • Haemon explains to Creon why he thinks Antigone is innocent
  • Creon sentences Antigone to her death leaving it up for the Gods to decide.
  • Scene  Four
  • You know your orders: take her to the vault and leave her alone there. And if she lives or dies, that's her affair, not ours." -Creon 4.55-57

  • Teiresias explains to Creon that he has led all these people to their suicides including Antigone as he mentions in the quote
