Storyboard Text

  • I shouldn't be here.
  • Doesn't everyone look nice!
  • Fine.
  • Mille, did you see that?
  • I saw it, I saw it!
  • Patience Montag!
  • You know I haven't any! Children are ruinous!
  • Let's talk. How're your children, Mrs. Phelps?
  • Dam it all, damn it all, damn it!
  • After talking with Faber, Guy Montag finishes his dinner and sees his wife's two friends come in. One by the name of Mrs. Phelps and the other Mrs. Bowles.
  • Guy!
  • Fine. Let's read poetry.
  • They come and watch "The Family" together. Montag gets annoyed at their one-dimensional personality and wants to speak, but Faber, through "the green bullet", tells him to be patient.
  • Was once, too, at the full, and round earth's shore...
  • Eventually, Montag changes the conversation and asks about Mrs. Phelps and Mrs. Bowles' children and husband. They are both unconcerned for them. As well, they talked about the presidential candidates and chose the winner based on their looks.
  • I, don't know, I just don't know, oh,oh...
  • Montag, enraged by their conversation, goes and grabs a book and starts to read poetry to the three women. They are all shocked in disbelief.
  • Montag continues: "Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled.  But now I only hear  Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,  Retreating, to the breath  Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear  And naked shingles of the world. "
  • Mrs. Phelps starts tearing up, Mrs. Bowles becomes infuriated towards Montag, and his wife is still shocked in disbelief. Even Faber, listening through "the green bullet" can't believe what Montag has just done.
