  • Selflessness: Katniss sacrificed herself to keep Prim safe and volunteered as tribute for the Hunger Games. This proved her strength and- she is one to put others before herself.
  • Bravery: Katniss stays strong and wills herself not to cry. She wants to prove her strength to her district and to the Capitol; she wants to let the other tributes know that she is not weak and not afraid.
  • Sympathy: Katniss feels bad for the red headed Avox for leaving her behind when she was being taken. Katniss connects with the girl emotionally and tries to apologize .
  • Perseverance: Katniss keeps training and works for hours to improve and develop her skills, despite how bad she may be when she begins. Katniss never gives up.
  • Patience: Katniss waited for all of the tributes to finish their private demonstrations before her. She kept calm and collected the entire way through, despite the pressure.
  • Risk taker: Katniss took a risk and shot an arrow at the Gamemakers not only because she was angry, but to catch their attention and make a statement of her strength and personality.
