Storyboard Text

  • My names Andrew Jackson and my non equipped soldiers can beat your 8,000 men any day.
  • In your dreams. (5 hours later...) RETREAT MEN!! RETREAT!!
  • The battle of New Orleans made the U.S. feel stronger because the small U.S. army, lead by Andrew Jackson, was not well equipped but still beat 8,000 British troops and ran them out of Louisiana.
  • The second bank of the United States helped the U.S. become stronger. It was disastrous before the bank. The bill was passed in 1816 to create the bank. This legislation gave the bank the power to issue notes that would serve as the currency and to control state banks.
  • Rivers offered a way faster way to travel and transport things than roads. The problem was, most boats could only travel downstream. The steamboat changed that. The Clermont (name of the steam boat) traveled 150 miles up stream in just 32 hours. This mad river travel more popular and soon, they were steam boats everywhere. By 1850, there were over 700 steamboats in the U.S. waterways.
