First, Prince masked as Claudio tries to win the love of Hero while Claudio watches in the back of the room. He asks to dance with her and she does. While they are dancing and chatting, Don John approaches Claudio and tells him the Prince is planning to marry Hero.
As Hero and the Prince step aside, Antonio and Ursula step forward. Already, Ursula can determine that she is dancing with Antonio by the waggling of his head. Antonio denies and continues to dance with the lovely Ursula.
Ursula and Antonio step to the side and Benedick and Beatrice move forward. Beatrice has no clue that she is dancing with Benedick, but Benedick knows. Benedick acts as gentlemanlike as possible as he speaks to Beatrice. He then asks about himself and she states that he is nothing more than "Kings Jester" and a "dull fool."
