Man vs. Nature
He struggled up to the surface and tried to cry out, but the wash from the speeding yacht slapped him in the face and the salt water in his open mouth made him gag and struggle. Desperately, he struck out with strong strokes after the speeding yacht but stopped before he could swim 50 feet!
Man vs. Society
I wish to leave this island at once!...I wish to go today!...I will not hunt!
The hunting was not good last night. The fellow lost his head...we will hunt, you and I.
Rainsford was being hunted in the forrest by Zaroff. He gave Rainsford time to get prepared, and he would come hunt him at dusk. At this point Rainsford , had been playing the game well, but it was not over yet.
Rainsford had fell off the yacht and was left behind. Swimming with slow, deliberate strokes , conserving his strength. For a screamingly endless time , he fought the sea. He began to count his strokes; he could do possibly a hundred more!
After Rainsford realized he was going to be hunted, just like the rest of the people whom Zaroff captured and killed , he strived to leave the island at once!
