Storyboard Text

  • Charles Darwin was born February 12 1809. I spent most of my time outside observing animals. I attended Edinburg University in Scotland. Then I transferred to Christ Colledge in Cambridge.
  • in two instances Darwin was confronted by his father about his academic standing. One resulted in him studying medicine and the other in him quitting medical school and studying to be a clergyman.
  • Although happy about no longer studying medicine, Darwin was still unhappy with his career path as a clergyman.
  • Darwin enlisted in the HMS voyage in order to escape his religious track, and traveled the world.
  • Darwin makes most of his observations and discoveries during this voyage, studying multiple finches and mockingbirds in the Galapagos Islands.
  • Darwin writes most of his observations and conclusions while in isolation. This is when he feels at home. He’s forced out of his comfort zone, and publishes his book worried that a fellow scientist would get more credit for it.
  • Darwin’s most important discovery was the effects of incest on an organism’s health. He discovers this due to his own family’s less than favorable health conditions.
