Refusal of the Call
Scarlet was born in the underworld - her parents were tortured souls, banished forever after having her. Her life was destined to be one in hell for eternity; however, there was one thing that kept her from turning into one of the dead: her piercing blue eyes.
Her eyes were capable of seeing orbs of light resting in the pit of the dead. This light showed the good that lied in each past life. She had the ability to save the lights from vanishing by simply staring into the orbs. Time passed and soon all of the lights needed saving.
Scarlet refused to believe that she was the only one who could save these souls. She locked her self away in the dungeon and kept her eyes from ever seeing a soul again.
Scarlet was urged by the first dark light she had ever seen to return into the fire. She found that the souls that she once knew and loved were once vibrant with life were decomposing into demons, turning against her. She had to save them or else all of the good in the world would disappear.
One by one, the demons chased after her, trying to take away her light. They were getting closer and closer every second. Scarlet had to choose between death, or looking at the light long enough for it to grow into the souls of the monsters.
As Scarlet fell to her death, the power of her eyes allowed the orb that had been with her since birth to light up, engulfing everything in its path, turning the darkness into light. All the evil was gone, and the newly transformed souls could now rest in peace forever.
