  • I am Louverture, the leader of this revolution, and you will give us our rightful lands!
  • Attack!
  • 1794 - The French National Convention abolishes slavery in France and all its colonies.
  • I am Jean-Jaques Dessalines and in the name of the people, I declare Haiti to be its own, independent colony!
  • 1793-1797 - After abolishment of slavery, former French slaves fight against colonial rule and for their own independent land. Louverture aids in St. Domingue revolution.
  • Hooray!
  • The people will have equality!
  • Constitution of Independence
  • 1802 - The War for Independence starts in which the French invade the freed colony of St. Domingue.
  • 1804 - Other revolution leader Jean-Jacques Dessalines declares independence of the colony of Haiti and the creation of a new country.
  • 1805 - Haitian Constitution of Independence is written and enforced, with various rights given to the people, such as equality and citizenship.
