  • The Book starts with a detailed description of where the are and established their friendship, appearances. The book takes place in the great depression and both men are traveling from one ranch to another to work since they have no place to go.
  • Chapter 4
  • when they arrive at the ranch they are taken by an old man named candy who shows them the bunkhouse. The boss then interviews both men questioning why they weren't here yesterday. George also tells Lennie to stay away from Curley and his wife.
  • Chapter 5
  • Slim gives Lennie a Pup in which he plays with every second and once tries to sneak in but failed. which he does. George then tells Lennie about their dream farm in which Candy wants to join. Curley then enters the room angry wondering why Lennie is smiling and starts attacking him. Lenneie fights back and as a result, breaking his hand. They threatened him not to tell it was Lennie.
  • Chapter 6
  • Lennie meets Crooks who is an old Black man who lives alone in the stables who also has a disability like candy. Lennie tells him about the dream farm and plays with him a little bit. Candy then enters crooks room for the first time and joins the conversation. Additionally, Curley's wife comes in but quickly shooed away when she starts telling the men about her life with Curley.
  • the chapter begins with Lennie talking to himself in the barn next to a dead puppy he bounced too hard. Curley's wife then comes in and shares that she doesn't like Curley and she also likes soft things so she lets Lennie touch her dress. He holds on the dress too tight, frightening her and eventually breaking her neck.
  • Lennie recalled that if he ever got into any trouble, he was to go to the lake and hide behind a bush. Carlson and Curley are after Lennie for killing his wife but George insists he does it himself. There Lennie gets a hallucination of a giant rabbit and Aunt Clara. When George comes he has Carlson's gun and starts talking to Lennie about the dream home and by the time the other men came, George had shot Lennie in the head.
