Even though John Adams did not get more votes, Congress chose him to be president because he had a more money than Jackson and was in an upper class.
1828 South Carolina Nullification
Also known as the Nullification Crisis as the tax on raw material went up, the tax on manufactured goods went down. As a result the North were happy as the South were upset.
1830 Worcester vs. Georgia
Andrew Jackson was selected to be our president as he represented the common man. His supporters were mainly farmers, laborers and frontiers men.
1836 Trail of Tears
South Carolina threatens to secede from the nation and ignored the tariffs, Jackson sent troops to Charleston, using the Force Bill. Henry Clay soon came to the compromise of lowering the tariffs for 10 years, so that the state had time to prepare.
When Georgia tried pressing charges on a missionary (Worcester) for living with on Cherokee Nation without taking an oath.
Cherokee tribe is forced to move during harsh weather. 1/4 of population dies due to starvation, exposure and fever.
