  • In 1776, a man named Thomas Paine wrote a pamphlet called Common Sense .
  • I'm going to call this pamphlet "Common Sense"!
  • Thomas wrote this to explain the arguments of independence to the colonists. He encouraged them to support the fight for independence against Britain.
  • What a great pamphlet! We need to fight for our independence!
  • This document influenced the cause for independence greatly. The signing of The Declaration of Independence was six months after he published his pamphlet, and The Declaration is a big part of U.S. history and has impacted our lives today.
