  • Louis is contemplating leaving France to escape his humiliating situation.
  • Marie Antoinette has been urging Louis to do so.
  • Louis decides to finally give in and go through with the plan.
  • In June 1791, a coach rolled north from Paris toward the border.
  • Inside, all of the royal family sat disguised hoping to escape France easily and in no harm.
  • The escape failed, Louis' disguise was discovered and a company of soldiers escorted the royal family back to Paris and everyone insulted the king and was known as traitor.
