  • A minor party is a political party with little support and plays a small role in politics and election.
  • This is an ideological party because all the member have patiicular set of beliefs.
  • Economic protest parties are parties that created in response to economic discontent.  They usually disappear as the economy gets better.
  • Even though minor parties are minor they can play a significant role.  They can take votes from major parties which can affect the election.
  • Parties like the Free Soil Party are single-issue parties that deal with one problem.  The Free-Soil party's purpose was to oppose slavery in Western territories.
  • This is a splinter party because a minor party was split from a major part.
