Storyboard Text

  • Jon Lacey "Monster" by Walter Myers
  • - Scared - Hopeful - Confused - Confident
  • Hello, my name is Steve Harmon. I am 16 years old.
  • Steve is being trailed for an action he did not do. The prosecute is calling him a "monster" because he is dangerous and black.
  • "I'll call it what the lady prosecutor called me... MONSTER" (Myers 5).
  • Steve feels that he is being punished for something he did not do. The judge and jury are treating him bad so he feels guilty, as if he killed the worker.
  • "I thought you're supposed to be innocent until you're proven guilty" (Myers 79)?
  • In the court room, Steve is being asked if he knows what King was doing the day of the shooting. Since Steve was not involved with the murder, he knows nothing of the killing and what happened that day.
  • 'I don't know what he was doIng, but I know I wasn't in the drug store" (Myers 229).
  • Steve debates all of his actions from the past year. Talking to certain people, acting differently and walking around the store all changed his life. If he did not do those things, possibly, he would not of gotten in trouble.
  • "A get-over? I don't do get-overs" (Myers 271).
  • O,Brien knows that Steve is innocent. Many people know that and they will stand up for him if the jury makes the wrong decision. A lot of people have Steve's back if he is proven guilty.
  • "They have a verdict... No matter what it is, we can continue your case. We can appeal" - O,Brien (Myers 272).
