The Crucible is about girls in Salem, Massachusetts that get accused of witchery but are really just faking it so they can get something out of it.
Paris in Act 3
She is a lair!
When people act hysterically in a situation it could hurt them or the people around them in different ways
Elizabeth in act 2
No more! I should have roared you down when first you told me your suspicion!
"My name is good in the village! I will not have it said my name is soiled! Goody Proctor is a gossiping liar!" Abigail's fear of having her name ruined in the village cause her to accuse people of witchery.
"They've come to overthrow the court, sir!" Paris is nervous that John Proctor will disprove Abigail's accusations and say's they are going to overthrow the court.
"No more! I should have roared you down when first you told me your suspicion!" Elizabeth is mad at John because she thinks he's going to Salem to see Abigail.
The theme is relevant today because the killing of innocent people happen all the time and people express freedom and religion in very exaggerated ways.
