- The Phaecians are having their assembly, Athene is in disuse as a herald and Odysseus make a speech which shows the Phaecian men his great oratory skills.
- Alcinous helps Odyusseus by getting 52 oars men and some ships. Alcinous prepares the food on the table and the lyre is played which makes Odysseus cry so Alcinous stops.
- My guest is upset, change the music.
- The men go and play sports, the younger men are very competitive and insult Odysseus by comparing him to a merchant trader, with the help of Athene he shows the men how good he is at sports.
- The story of Ares and Aphrodite is told through the lyre, they are caught by crafty Hephastus and trapped.
- Whilst the lyre is playing Odysseus gets emotional and starts crying, he thinks of home. Later ,on they ask Odyssseus to reveal himself.
- Alcinous tells Odysseus of the prophecy which has not been fufilled yet, he warns him of the possible dangers he could faace with Poisedion.
