  • Rising Action
  • Ariande sees Theseus and other Athenian children arrive. She sees that they are very sad and scared. She felt bad that they were being sacrificed and wanted to help them.
  • Climax
  • They are to be sacrificed to the Minotaur. The Minotaur lived in the labyrinth where he was locked up so he couldn't do any harm. Once every year, the Minotaur would make loud sounds that could only be stopped once people were sacrificed so he could eat them.
  • Falling Action
  • She makes a plan with Theseus to save the people and himself who are going to be sacrificed to the Minotaur. Ariande gives him some twine and a sword to defeat the Minotaur only if he would marry her and take her away
  • Resolution
  • Theseus kills the Minotaur. He then helps the prisoners escape from the labyrinth.
  • Theseus makes a boat for them to sail away on, but ends up leaving Ariande on a deserted island and didn't marry her. Theseus didn't keep his promise.
  • When Theseus sailed away, the sails were black. Ariande smiles. Theseus forgot to change the sails and now it meant he was dead to his father. His father will kill himself if he sees the black sails.
