  • We’ll meet Macbeth there.
  • Scene 2 - A Camp Near Forres
  • The Thane of Cawdor has lost what the noble Macbeth has won.
  • King Duncan
  • Macbeth defeated the Thane of Cawdor
  • Banquo, you are lesser than Macbeth but also greater
  • Scene 3 - A Heath (1)
  • Hail
  • Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none. So all hail, Macbeth and Banquo!
  • You are not as happy as Macbeth, yet much happier.
  • Macbeth
  • The three witches come together to discuss where they should meet Macbeth
  • Scene 3 - A Heath (2)
  • Were these things we’re talking about really here? Or are we both on drugs?
  • After being informed about how Macbeth defeated the traitorous Thane of Cawdor and the Norweigian Army. Duncan rewards Macbeth and announces him as the new Thane of Cawdor
  • Scene 4 - Forres
  • The rest is labor which is not used for you
  • My sons, relatives, lords, and all those closest to me, I want you to witness that I will bestow my kingdom on my eldest son, Malcolm. 
  • The witches predict that Macbeth would be Thane of Cawdor and the king later. They similarly give one to the skeptical Banquo, saying that his sons will be the king, but he won't
  • Scene 5 - Inverness
  • My dearest love, Duncan is coming here tonight.
  • Banquo
  • O, never Shall sun that morrow see!
  • The witches predict that Macbeth would be Thane of Cawdor and the king later. Macbeth's hubris or excessive pride is now his dominant character trait.
  • Banquo
  • Wait! You only told me part of what I want to know. Stay and tell me more. Speak, I command you.

  • After confirming with Malcolm that the previous Thane of Cawdor has been executed, King Duncan appoints Malcolm as the "Prince of Cumberland", or next in line to inherit Duncan's position of the king. This is a problem to Macbeth
  • Banquo

  • Lady Macbeth reads the letter from Macbeth, about the witches' prophecy. Lady Macbeth wants to carry out the murder of Duncan by calling the evil spirits. She tells Macbeth to leave everything on her.
