The Kingdom of Ghana lasted from 500 CE to 1200 CE
The land was ruled by a powerful king.
Camels helped develop the Trans-Saharan trading route.
Ghana was known for its gold. But no one actually knew where the mines were.
They also mined salt, they did this by either pouring water until it evaporated or mining salt.
The government taxed the people for leaving with things they had bought, or when they entered the kingdom. They did this to maintain their armies.
All the traders exchanges goods at Kumbi.
