The first point that I would make in my argument is the rapid growth of waste that is polluting our Earth is destroying our health and ecosystem. Further more, to understand how we can reduce the amount of waste we produce, we need to understand why we should reduce waste in the first place.
(Why we need to reduce waste - casual argument) Reducing the amount of waste we produce is a self guiding responsibility of all people on this Earth. The process of disposing and transporting waste once we are done using it is expensive and requires more trucks to travel and burn fuel that is contributing to global warming. Once the waste is distributed to landfills, the toxic gas is highly concentrated with methane which raises temperatures in the atmosphere and essentially contributes to global warming. The effect of excessive waste emitting methane directly leads to global warming.
(Further support on why we need to reduce waste and how it can reduce health related ) The methane gas being emitted from the landfills that are being rapidly filled by human waste are directly linked to air pollution. According to the American Cancer Society, outdoor air pollution is considered a carcinogen, which is a cancer-causing agent. This essential correlation clearly shows how reducing the amount of waste we produce directly reduces air pollution, which ultimately decreased the chances of lung cancer.
(One way to reduce the amount of waste) "Living by the '3R's" One important way to limit the amount of waste on our Earth is by reducing, reusing, and recycling. This simple rule is a useful reminder when disposing of waste, always consider if you could have used less of something, if you could reuse something, or if it meets the standards of material that can be properly recycled. All three of these options greatly contribute to the worldwide effort to reduce the amount of waste that humans pollute our planet with.
(Another solution to reducing the amount of waste) "Be a smart shopper" "Think before you buy something and consider if you truly need that item" "buy in bulk to avoid the waste of plastic wrapping" composting benefits instead of buying soil General money benefits of being an eco-friendly shopper "helps your wallet and the environment"
(summarize problems, solutions, and benefits and then lead into conclusion) The worldwide issue on how to reduce the amount of waste we produce is one of the biggest modern threats to human civilization on Earth. Massive amounts of waste that have been piled into landfills emit toxic gas that is causing drastic air pollution. Lung cancer has been directly linked to air pollution and the reduction of waste would essentially decrease the chance of this pollution causing cancer. Global warming has also been directly linked the methane gas that is being emitted from landfills that over overflowing with trash. If our Earths temperature doesn't stop increasing, the oceans will rise and begin to submerge onto our mainland. One way to reduce the amount of waste being produced is to live by the 3 R's - Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Being a smart shopper can limit waste we produce and save you money (attractive to audience).
