In 1824, the first photographic process (heliography) was invented by Nicephore Niepce
Dagurre invented his own dagurretype in 1838. The development stage was a major amplification of the effect of light that exposure time was hardly more than 30mn.
Hipolyte bayard discovered the way to obtain positive images directly on paper in july 1839. One of the pictures were exposed by light then blacken.
Talbot's announcement of the Daguerrotype excited Englishmen, he patented the calotype the first process that made it possible to multiply the same image.
John Herschell discovered the way to fix images (dip in sodium hyposulfite bath) which still is used today. Calotype could manipulate the paper prints.
In 1858,Felix Tournachon took the first aerial photograph from a tethered balloon over Bievre Valley in France.
