  • In 1824, the first photographic process (heliography) was invented by Nicephore Niepce
  • Dagurre invented his own dagurretype in 1838. The development stage was a major amplification of the effect of light that exposure time was hardly more than 30mn. 
  • Hipolyte bayard discovered the way to obtain positive images directly on paper in july 1839. One of the pictures were exposed by light then blacken.
  • Talbot's announcement of the Daguerrotype excited Englishmen, he patented the calotype the first process that made it possible to multiply the same image.
  • John Herschell discovered the way to fix images (dip in sodium hyposulfite bath) which still is used today. Calotype could manipulate the paper prints.
  • In 1858,Felix Tournachon took the first aerial photograph from a tethered balloon over Bievre Valley in France.
