  • Saint Patrick brings Christianity to Northern Ireland 400s AD Patrick had been had been taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped to France where he studied to become a priest. He later returned to Ireland and successfully converted the people .
  • Several years later.. Potato Famine 1845-1848 The potato crop in Ireland was struck by a disease and half the crop failed. 
  • Civil War 1922 Tension between the supporters & non-supporters escalated into violence which lasted for just over a year and left hundreds dead including Michael Collins leader of the Free State soldiers. 
  • Tension between the Catholics and Protestants 1969 Catholic demands were no nearer being met and with the approach of the two main Unionist marches
  • Bloody Sunday 30, January 1972 A march organised by the NICRA against Internment and the ban on marches took place in Derry.
  • Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement April 10, 1998  multi-party agreement by most of Northern Ireland's political parties
