Storyboard Text

  • "It is his eye that vexes me and I must get rid of it."
  • Rising Action
  • Climax
  • The narrator is telling us how he is going to kill the old man. He is saying that he doesn't dislike the old man but his evil eye is what vexes him. The narrator says that every night he sneaks into the old mans room and watches him sleep.
  • Falling Action
  • Look around, please. This is where he sleeps when he is here.
  • The narrator sticks his head into the old mans room and watches him sleep. The narrator makes a sound and the old man asks," Who's there?!". The Narrator doesn't move or make a sound.
  • Resolution
  • "Alright. I killed him he is under the floorboard! I couldn't live with the eye anymore!"
  • The narrator can finally wait no longer he jumps into the room. The old man makes one scream and then is silent. The narrator pulls him to the ground and then suffocates him with the mattress. After the old man is dead the narrator dismembers him and hides him under the floor.

  • Officers knock on the door and the narrator says that the scream was his in a dream and that the old man was on a trip out of the country. He gives them a tour of the house and shows them his bedroom and makes small talk. The officers don't suspect anything.
  • The narrator becomes crazed hearing the beating of the old mans heart. He starts pacing and shouting and then finally tells the officers that the body is under the floor.
