Penelope Questions Odysseus
Penelope sees Odysseus for the first time after the war and does not speak to Odysseus because she is lost in amazement. Telemachus started to reassure her that it is Odysseus
Penelope Finally believes Odysseus
After Telemachus reassures Penelope, Penelope asks Telemachus to leave so she can question Odysseus to make sure it is actually him.
Odysseus Tells Penelope what is To Come
Penelope asks Odysseus if he can move a bed because that is a question only the real Odysseus will know the answer to. So, Odysseus says no because he explains how he made the bed and how the bed can't be moved since he made it with his own hands and it is connected to a tree.
Odysseus Tells Penelope How He is Going To Kill the Suitors
After Odysseus gives the correct answer, Penelope is so happy she runs towards Odysseus and gives him a hug.
After Penelope hugs Odysseus, Odysseus tells Penelope that his battles have not ended because the prophet Teiresias told him something is still to come but Odysseus tells Penelope to not worry about it now and go to bed.
Odysseus explains to Penelope how he is going to kill the suitors because they took advantage of the household. Odysseus gives Penelope specific instructions on what to do while this is happening.
