What am I going to do? I don't have enough money for the car and college.
I've got it! I'll use the six thinking hats strategy!
With the blue hat I decide how to approach each problem and which hat to use at any given time. I decide to use the white hat first to look at data.
The white hat analyzes data. With the white hat I realize that I have only enough money for either college or the car.
Now I put the green hat on. With the green hat I come up with possible solutions. I think of either buying the car now and not going to college or not buying the car at this point, but going to college. I also use the red hat to see how the choices will affect mine and others' feelings. Going to college will make my parents happy and make me happy later. Buying the car will make me happy now but not later.
Now I put on the black hat to look at the negatives of the choice to go to college. If I go to college instead of buying the car I won't get the thing that I've worked hard for and I will have to wait a while for any benefits at all. I use the yellow hat to look at positives. In the long run going to college will lead to a happier life than buying the car will.
