Storyboard Text

  • Symbolism-The Lottery
  • We have to do this, it's tradition.
  • Image-The setting
  • Hyperbole-Stones
  • AHH!
  • AHH!
  • The lottery symbolizes tradition to the towns folk. This tradition has grown on them so much they do it every year no matter what.
  • Tone-Nervous
  • The flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass richly green. This shows the setting that was taking place through out the middle of the story.
  • Symbolism-Mercy
  • Go on without me im too old to keep up.
  • It was raining boulders. This is an exagerration to what it probably felt like for Mrs.Hutchingson to get hit by stones.
  • Juxtaposition
  • The croud was nervous wondering who was going to get picked. After seeing the card Mrs.Hutchingson denied the drawing was done correctly.
  • This can't be right!
  • Mrs.dunbar told them to go with out without her, that she's too old to go stone Mrs. Hutchingson. This symbolizes mercy because she didn't feel it's right to kill someone.
  • The stone represents a grave. This is what I think to be a juxtaposition.
