  • What is Ghonorrhea? and how can you protect yourself?
  • Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that can infect both men and women. It can cause infections in the genitals, rectum, and throat. It is a very common infection, especially among young people ages 15-24 years.
  • You can get gonorrhea by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has gonorrhea. A pregnant woman with gonorrhea can give the infection to her baby during childbirth
  • The bacteria grow in warm, moist areas of the body. This can include the tube that carries urine out of the body (urethra). In women, the bacteria may be found in the reproductive tract The bacteria can also grow in the eyes.
  • Infection with Neisseria gonorrhoeae triggers an intense inflammatory response characterized by an influx of neutrophils in the genital tract, yet natural gonococcal.
  • White blood cells in your body that work to fight off infection ingest and kill the bacteria and then release the by-products.
