  • Chapter 2

  • Kino, Coyotito, and Juana was eating breakfast near the fireplace. The hanging box attached to the roof fell on Coyotito, and a scorpion came down. The scorpion came down and bit Coyotito as he yelled in pain.
  • Chapter 4
  • Kino looked for a pearl big enough to pay for the funds to support the family and get a doctor to heal Coyotito. He went out to the ocean with his canoe which was passed down in his family. He finally found a pearl that was big and shiny to help them.
  • Chapter 6
  • After the doctor visited Kino's home to check the wounded baby, during the night a thief came and started checking and ransacking Kino's home. The thief was looking for the pearl, but Kino changed location after the doctor's visit. Kino used his knife and stabbed the thief as he ran away. 
  • Chapter 6
  • Kino tries to sell the pearl to pearl buyer, for a lot of money. The pearl buyer said that it was too big and odd to be worth any money, so they only offered a little bit. The pearl buyer tried to get the lowest price for the pearl, but Kino knew it was worth more. He said that he will leave to the city to get the actual price. 
  • As Coyotito was hiding in a bush, he starts to cry and the hunters think it is a crying coyote. The hunter with the gun shoots Coyotito, as Kino went out of the bushes to attack them. He kills the hunters with his knife, but at a loss. 
  • After Coyotito's death, Kino finally realizes that the pearl brought great suffering and disruption to their peaceful life. Kino throws the pearl into the sea, after experiencing the suffering it caused. The pearl finally disappears into the deep sea.
