  • What was your overall experience?
  • What brands did you experience & what did you like/dislike about their posts?
  • Did your experiences give rise to potentially new marketing applications or approaches brands could use?
  • Tumblr is a unique social network that I found was like social media combined with a blogging platform. It also keeps the interface simple and free of complexity. I found that Tumblr allows for the creative flexibility of a company to be utilised to the fullest which leads to an interesting experience within the culture of Tumblr. But the platform of was not appealing to me.
  • What did you learn about social media you did not know before?
  • Adidas Football - caters towards the niche market of the football community with telling a story through visuals. Dislikes – very commercial based around selling products. Coca-Cola brings out original inspired content like photos, gifs and past ads is very inspiring. Dislikes – feeling of immaturity that feels a little too childish at times not catering towards the older audience.
  • How will you ensure ethical behaviour?
  • Companies can use social media to push a company strategy on the market in a fun and creative and subtle way rather than having ads and being overbearing. Having open discussions with the customer to find out what they want rather than just looking at sales
  • What will you do on Tumblr if you were responsible for a brand?
  • Niche communities and subcultures that use their own dialects It is based around reposts or reblogging content unlike other social media where that isn’t as popular. Humour in it is very deliberate and you might only understand if you spend some time on the company’s page and analysing it over a period of time.
  • Being active on Tumblr and communicating with your audience is the number one key to ensuring ethical behaviour because by being active you can see the reblogs and reposts about your company through this you can report anything unethical with things like malicious speech, harm to minors, Unflagged NSFW Blogs, Uploading Sexually Explicit Video.
  • - Know what your brands audience is on Tumblr. - Be aware of these communities you are in and speak their language to engage them - Create original engaging visual content along with GIFS - They need to interact with their audience regularly through reblogging and comments.
