  • Childhood!!!!
  • Inspired!!!!
  • Did you know that some of your relatives were black heroes. Well, before I start, I wan't you to think if when you grow up you can be a black hero, okay
  • Harsh times!!!!
  • Langston Hughes was born on January 1st, 1902, in Joplin, Missouri. When he was a baby, his mother, Carrie Hughes, and his father, James Hughes divorced. So then he had to live with his grandma, because his mom had to find a new job because his parents divorced. It was hard for him to do anything because his grandma was becoming old, so she couldn't do much. So Langston had to cook, clean his own clothes, help his grandma, and it was too much for him.
  • Graduation!!!!
  • GET TO WORK, NOW!!
  •     But when his grandma was still alive, she used to tell Langston story's of black heroes so Langston could be inspired. Langston's grandma told these story's over and over again because she wanted Langston to now that blacks were treated unfairly and she wants Langston to become famous to show that blacks should be equally treated just like whites.
  • Becoming a poet!!!!
  • When Langston's grandma sadly died, it became a real challenge for Langston. His mom got remarried, and then Langston had to move with them. And it was really hard for him because as I said before, his parents divorced and then his grandma died, it is WAY TOO HARD FOR HIM!. From one place to another to another to another. I think it was a very hard life for when he was small.
  • Legacy!!!!
  • When Langston Hughes finished highschool, he did lots of jobs. Some of them were that he went on a boat crew and had to cook for the crew, another one was when he had to pay his expenses by washing dishes. And while he was going through all this, he wrote stories and poems and sent them home so they could be published. He finally left the cruel crew and went back to The U.S.A in 1924.
  • Yes, sir.
  • Once he tried some his jobs, he thought that the best job for him was being a poet. So from that day on, he wrote poetry like no other man could do. But not even poetry, but even short stories that inspire people. And that is how he became famous. One of the books was The Weary Blues. And that is how he became a poet and got his job that he actually liked.
  • When Langston Hughes sadly died on March 22, 1967 because of cancer, everybody will still remember him of his poems and short stories he made like The Negro Speaks Of Rivers, Simple Speaks His mind, Merry- Go- Round, Dream Deferred and many others.  And people read his poems because each and every poem he made ( and short stories) teaches everybody a moral!
