But the State Championship is in two weeks and they need me to win
You injured your shoulder. You could be out for the next two to three weeks.
Tom, Woodside High's star quarterback is in a game against the fierce team of Coppercove High. The score is tied and winning is all Tom wants. As the final seconds tick down, Tom looks to through deep, finds a receiver and throws the ball down field and straight into the receivers hands. Tom, as usual has won the game for Woodside High.
Meeting with the Mentor
But little did Tom know that the other teams coach told one of their players to go try and hurt the quarterback so they had a chance of winning. Out of no where Tom gets drilled to the turf and feels a sharp pain in his right shoulder. A fight breaks out but it quickly resolved and both teams separated. Tom, still with pain in his shoulder walks back to the locker room where he gets inspected by his athletic trainer.
Crossing the Threshold
So you came
The trainer tells Tom that he injured his shoulder and will have to sit out for two to three weeks. This isn't good news for Tom because the State Championship is in two weeks and his team needs him to win. Plus, there will be a ton of college scouts at the game who already have their eye on Tom. Tom tells his coach the situation and is reluctant but sits out of practice the next day.
You're gonna have to fight through the pain
Tony goes to the park to relive some anger. George, one of Tom's trainers approaches him. George tells Tom that he has an offer for him. Tom asks what the offer is. George tells Tom that he has a way that Tom could be back in time for the State Championship, but it would require him to push himself harder than ever before. George also says that there could be a chance that they could do more damage to his shoulder, but if not, he would be back just in time. Tom tells him he would think about it. George tells him that if he decides to do it then to meet him at the gym the next day.
Tom decides that if he wants a chance at getting to play in the State Championship, that this is going to be his most likely way of doing it, despite the risk of causing further damage to his shoulder.
Time to get to work
Tom listens to George and does the excercises he tells him to do, but Tom is struggling and can't seem to make much progress. He even gets permission from his coach to train with George instead of going to practice. George keeps telling Tom that if he wants to recover in time, then he is going to have to work harder. Tom also has a lot of doubters. A lot of these doubters mocked Tom and said there was no chance he could recover in time. They made fun of him and told him that he had his chance and blew it.
