  • "Common man"- Spreading  more political power to the people, did not have to own property to be able to vote. "Indian Removal Act"Indians standing in way of progress of whites. Jackson wanted them moved, during process they suffered and 4,000 of 15,000 died from hunger, illness, disease.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          
  • "tariff of 1828'- Tariff of abomination. Southern planters feared the tariff would raise the cost of almost everything they brought and depressing the cotton industry. "Jackson kills 2nd Bank of United States"- he vetoed charter renewal in 1832- causing blow to monopoly but was a victory for labor-he created pet banks destabilized the national currency and aid.
  • 'Nullification Crisis'- States can refuse to recognize or enforce federal law passed by congress. South Carolina would not allow tariff said unconstitutional. "Trail of Tears" 1838-1839- part of Indian removal, Cherokee forced to give up land east of Mississippi and migrate to new land said to be in present day Oklahoma.
