Storyboard Text

  • This is the story of Roanoke colony. Retold by me.
  • I'm Sir Walter Raleigh, and I will be funding this expedition to establish Roanoke colony.
  • I, Queen Elizabeth, give you, Sir Walter Raleigh, permission to establish a colony on Roanoke Island.
  • It is the year of 1587, and we have arrived at Roanoke safely.
  • I'm Virginia Dare, the first baby from England to be born in America.
  • We have decided that I, John White, the governor of Roanoke, should be the one to go and get supplies from England.
  • I have arrived in England, but a war has started and I am unable to return the colony.
  • I've finally arrived back at Roanoke colony, but no one is here. The only clue as to where they have gone is the word Croatoan carved into a tree.
  • We've only been gone three years.
  • Despite many peoples' efforts, the lost colonists were never found, and that is why the colony of Roanoke is called,"The Lost Colony" to this day.
