  • Lizabeth was acting like a child because she agreed to destroy some of Miss Lottie's marigolds with everyone.  Lizabeth, also was singing a song about Miss Lottie, " Old witch, fell in a ditch, picked up a penny and thought she was rich!" (line 228-230)
  • After hearing her parents argument and her dad crying Lizabeth with filled with terror. So, she decided to do something unreasonable. She woke up Joey and ran to Miss Lottie's, where she decided she was going to destroy her marigolds. " I went tearing and mangling and sobbing while Joey tugged at my waist crying." (lines  336-337)
  • Lizabeth realizes what she had done was wrong and didn't realize she was hurting someone until she saw the look on Miss Lottie's face.
