love story with segragation between the slaves and the tribe
once there was a village,around what is now central mexico. the region was part of a powerful tribe, the chief had previously conquered the village and killed off all the men, enslaved the natives of the previous village .
in the village lived the young boy Popocatepetl, he is one of the slaves who had been captured by the rival tribe, he now stays with his mom in the separated area where they were placed and told not to go into the chiefs side of town. because they were slaves.

the village chief , had a beautiful daughter, whom every boy in the village wanted to marry. her name was Iztaccihuatl.

the 2 grew and fell in love with each other secretly, they hid their love from the tribe, afraid on to what might happen to their families. then Popocatepetl decided to marry her, he disguised his identity so the chief wouldn't kill him on sight for being a slave. the chief told him, in order for him to marry her, he would have to come back with the head of the men of the rival tribe.

one of the tribe men, was also in love with Iztaccihuatl . but was furious when he learned that Popocatepetl was a slave, he informed the chief secretly, and the chief gave him permission instead to marry his daughter. the man told Iztaccihuatl that Popocatepetl had died in combat. Iztaccihuatl died of a broken heart.

when Popocatepetl returned to the village, the chief told him that his daughter had died of a broken heart, and the chief banished Popocatepetl from the village because he was the cause of his daughter death and the love that was between them was forbidden. for he was a slave. Popocatepetl took his wife's body, took it to the mountains to bury her. then he stood by her side. then he died. the snow and dirt covered their bodies over the years, until it formed what is now 2 mountains. named after the slave and his beloved wife.
