Storyboard Text

  • Hello! you must be the new kid from cali, right? im Dave
  • Yeah i am, nice to meet you. Im emma, im gonna be going into 8th grade soon.
  • sure i can!
  • Although im pretty worried about 8th grade. Can you tell me anything that you've learned in 8th grade math?
  • So lets just start out with translations. Translations means to move without rotating or changing size, so just moving the shape
  • Every point of the shape must move the same direction and the same distance.
  • Rotation is a bit like transformation, you rotate the shape clockwise or counterclockwise
  • Alright, how about dilations? I had trouble with them when i was in 8th grade
  • That sounds easy, how about something harder?
  • Dilations means to make larger or smaller. It requires a center point and a scale factor. The scale factor determines whether or not the dilation is enlargement or reduction.
  • If the scale factor is larger than 1, the dilation is enlargement. If the scale factor is smaller the dilation is reduction.
  • happy to help.
  • thanks, ill make sure to use the information. I feel more confident already.
