Jing Mei and her dad are on their way to Guangzhou to reunite with their family. As she was observing the Chinese countryside through the window she starts to remember all the times her late mother would tease her about her belief in her ethnicity. after much pondering she begins to question if she really was Chinese after all.
Jing Mei and her dad arrive to Guangzhou and are immediately greeted by her great-aunt. She notice how jam-packed the train station is but it doesn't discomfort her. They soon meet her great-aunt oldest son, his wife and their daughter.
After a scary taxi ride, Jing mei and her family arrive to the hotel called "Communist China". She was surprised at how luxurious it looks.
Jing Mei eavesdrops on the conversation between her dad and great aunt. She listens as her dad recounts her late mother's experience during the war between China and Japan. Soon after her great aunt falls asleep, she asks her father all the questions and curiosities she never bother asking her mother when she was alive.
Jing Mei and her dad say goodbye to their family before leaving to Shangai. She begins to imagine how her arrival is going to upset her sisters.
Jing Mei arrives at the Shangai airport where she is immediately greeted in a heart felt hug by her long lost half-sisters; finally granting her her late mother life wish.
