- The Crusades: Why Then?
- Why can't we have ten chickens at the feast instead of nine?
- Because I don't want ten chickens!
- Why do I have to work so much?
- Because the nobles have told us that we must work harder.

- I'm hungry Mama! What can I eat?
- I am sorry, my dear boy, but there is no food to give you.
- The nobles fought over useless things that were causing fights among them so there was division and anger.
- Let us out!
- Arghhhhh!
- The nobles and rulers used goods for ransom and war, so the serfs had to work harder to produce goods.
- There you go son! You get all that I own!
- You get nothing! I am the oldest!
- A famine came through and they began to starve because they gave all the food to the nobles. This also spread diseases throughout the known world.
- The jails in Europe were miserable and full of criminals during the famine, so they starved. This caused unhappy and angry prisoners.
- The eldest son of a lord gained everything, so the other children got nothing. This made the younger siblings angry and encouraged the Crusades.
