In this scene Abigail continues to seduce John after they had their affairs. John Proctor realizes his mistakes and tries to get away from her.
Proctor: "You will not use me, It is no part of salvation that you should use me!"
Abigail stabs herself with a needle. She does this in order to cast suspicion on Elizabeth Proctor. If Elizabeth Proctor is convicted of witchcraft, then Elizabeth will be executed. John will once again be a single man, and Abigail thinks that she and John can be intimate together again.
Parris: "Thirty-one pound is gone. I a penniless"
Hawthorne: "She have robbed you?"
Parris: "What happened? What are you doing to her? Betty!"
In this picture Proctor admitts that he cheated on his wife with Abigail in the court. He had been lying to everybody about the affair and John had been seeing Abigail a couple of times after she had been released of working for them.
Abigail: "She heard you singin' and suddenly she's up screaming"
Mrs. Putnam: "The Psalm? The psalm! She cannot bear to hear the Lord's name!"
In this picture John Proctor wanted to keep his pride and not ruin his name, he wants his children to have a better life and not in his ruined name.
Here is when Parris has realized his niece Abigail has stolen all of his money and ran off, He seems to care more about his money than his niece disappearing.
In this scene Betty won't wake up, and the town's people think she has been witched which causes hysteria.
Parris: "No, God forbid. Mercy, run to the doctor! Tell him what's happened here"
